What are the major milestones in your career?
When I reflect on my career, what stands out most is having worked with exceptional partners to improve people’s lives through housing. Early in my career, experiences across both the private real estate and social housing sectors shaped my understanding that housing is never just about buildings or policy — it is about dignity, stability and opportunity for people and communities. A defining milestone was leading housing policy at the City of Toronto’s Housing Secretariat, where I worked with partners across sectors to advance initiatives that increased housing supply and preserved affordable homes. That experience reinforced my belief that thoughtful public policy can create meaningful and lasting impact. Another pivotal chapter was serving as the inaugural Executive Director of Development Review for the City of Toronto. While the mandate focused on modernizing systems and improving the development approval process, the broader purpose was clear: creating the conditions to build more homes, stronger communities and a better quality of life for residents. Today, as Senior Vice-President, Partnership and Development at Build Canada Homes, I have the privilege of working alongside Indigenous partners, governments, non-profit organizations and the private sector to help deliver affordable housing across Canada. What continues to inspire me most is seeing what is possible when diverse partners come together around a shared purpose. Looking back, the defining thread throughout my career has been partnership. The achievements I am most proud of were never accomplished alone — they came from bringing people together, building trust and finding common ground to solve complex challenges. If there is one lesson I have learned, it is that when we put people first and work together with shared purpose, we can create lasting change that extends far beyond housing itself.
Who were your major influencers/mentors and what were the key lessons you gained from them?
I have been fortunate to have had some amazing mentors throughout my career. My parents and grandmother have been among the most important influencers in my life. From a very young age, they instilled in me the values of hard word, integrity, resilience, compassion and a strong sense of responsibility to others. Key people who have influenced my commitment to housing and public service include Sean Gadon, Ana Bailão, Abi Bond, Jag Sharma and the late Greg Spearn. Through their leadership, integrity and dedication to improving communities, each shaped my understanding of what principled, people-focused leadership looks like, and reinforced the importance of collaboration, compassion and public service.
