Sue Jean Chung is a Founding Principal of Studio JCI, an innovative and multi-disciplinary architectural firm committed to solving the most significant housing and design challenges facing Canadian cities. Through her leadership, dedication, and business acumen, she has successfully grown Studio JCI from a team of three to over thirty-five architects and designers. Her rigour and commitment have achieved the construction of over 1800 residential units in the GTA/Greater Golden Horseshoe Areas. Sue Jean believes successful city building includes both contextually sensitive architectural design at a macro scale, as well as micro level execution that ensure the quality of spaces being built also promote well-being, functionality, and a renewed urban fabric. Sue Jean actively represents Studio JCI on construction sites. She is a respected and effective leader who deftly guides new construction and complex renovations at all scales and through every phase, from Tender and Bidding, to Construction and Close-Out, working collaboratively with clients and construction managers to ensure that project goals are successfully delivered. In addition, she has an in-depth knowledge of zoning by-laws and codes and has demonstrated leadership in providing clarification and interpretation of these policies to the client base and construction industry at large in Ontario. A graduate of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, Sue Jean actively teaches staff at Studio JCI through weekly learning modules with the aim of educating and elevating the next generation of problem-solving architects. Sue Jean is involved with BEAT Toronto as a supporter.
